My wife suffers from asthma and allergies and has coughing/sneezing fits several times a week. Im sure that the moisture from the tank has an affect on the air quality and could be contributing.
I have a 300 DD with an open top and currently evaporate about 1 to 1.5 gallons per day. We also have a lazy yellow lab that sheds.
Typically most are "immune" to the smells of their home. I know that my 300 can smell and the lab smells for sure!
My wife is about to have surgery very soon and these coughing attacks will be a big problem for her so I decided to have my neighbor who owns a HVAC business recommend solution to improve the air quality.
1. A new April Air filter was installed which is probably 5" thick! It certainly filters the incoming air extremely well.( house hold Dust reduction)
2. Installed a Reme-Halo UV filter that also injects ozone into the house. This was installed to main ductwork feeding the house. It kills mold, mildew, virusus and bacteria in the air. This is the same equipment that is used in operating rooms
3. upgraded the de-humidifier to a 70 quart per day with a pump to automatically empties the bucket. It runs automatically based on what the humidity level is set to.
Results
1.The house humidity level is now running between 47 and 55% compared to 70% + during the summer.
2. Zero smell in the house. Verified be several people. The house is very fresh smelling
3. Less dust for sure. the Wood furniture requires less dusting now
4. And the finally. A drastic reduction with coughing/sneezing attacks!
Mission accomplished
I was able to do all this at a reduced cost because of my friend. The UV unit alone is around $700 which is probably cheaper than some of the equipment we run of our tanks.
What a drastic difference :bounce2::bounce2:
