Inexpensive Gigs at PETCO, in Mesa AZ

Hello Reef Central. I just got home from work, on my way I stopped by the PETCO on the 101 and Dobson, and I picked up a bubble tip anemone. While there I noticed that they had 2 gigs, I think for $30 each (Maybe $40) and both of them looked pretty healthy. Once was a purple color with white tips, and the other one ate one of the fish from it's tank while I was watching.

They had a few other anemones as well, most looked pretty healthy to me. Granted, this is my first anemone but I have been lurking here for a while, and they all had inflated tentacles and closed mouths.

I just though a couple lucky Arizonans might want a chance at a gig.

No, I realized I should have taken pics as soon as I left the parking lot. I will get some pics of my anemone in the next day or two.

EDIT: Here is mine in my acclimation bowl.

He is a bit bleached, and has opened his mouth a couple times, but closes it again quickly. As my first anemone he is going in my tank in a few minutes.

I think they had Sebae and long tentacle, but I don't remember any mags. I will stop by tomorrow and try to get some pics.

So I stopped by PETCO over lunch break to get some pics.

They had a couple Condys for $10 each.

And a couple Sebaes, sorry for the super blue pictures. My phone did not like the lights. $30 each.

And 2 gigs at $40 each. Again sorry for the picture quality, but I was in a hurry and so this is the best I could do. The mouth on this one was closed tight yesterday, so I am guessing it just ate.

And this was the anemone I picked up.

Are you sure they are Gig? Hard to tell from the color and picture. The next to last carpet seem to be Haddoni to me

Huh, they had them labeled as gigs. I am not familiar enough to ID them by eye so I was going off the label at the store.

At all Petcos they are labelled 'True Carpet Anemone - Stichodactyla Gigantea'.
When I got my green Haddoni here in CA for $30 they were in a similarly labelled tank. The guy at Petco taking care of the Marine section told me he can get any color I wished....I wonder, maybe I should take him up on the offer.

i don't get it AT ALL. petcos in nyc basically has nothing except for launching dog and cat adoption campaign every weekend.well, its good but all the aquatic animals they have basically just betas

The petco by me here in Jersey sometimes get Gigs and Mags every now and then you just have to check weekly. They always have 1 or 2 Haddoni in stock
