Initial planning stages for tank and fish room

Yeah, most likely. I was a heavy feeder as well, so as long as you stay that way, I think you will be ok

My experiences with angels were of the pygmy variety. Most were ok but one flame angel I had was a terror. The reading I've done on angels seem to suggest those that pick at corals are actually eating the mucus of LPS mostly. Some pick at the mantle of clams as well; the end result being a deterioration of the animal being picked at due to being irritated to the point they stay closed and/or no polyp extension for feeding.

Haven't posted tank pics in a while so thought I'd make an update. The corals continue to grow at a good pace and look happy except the Moseleya latistellata ( in the second pic)
which is holding steady but not looking well for some reason. The tank is also experiencing a bit of red cyano on the sandbed which I think is the result of feeding too much papone. So I backed off and will let it takes it's course while I monitor it. Other than that, I added 3 square anthias - a large male and two females.

Your tank clean-up crew should eliminate the cyano on the sand problem. If you don't have any yet I'd recommend some conchs.

I have two conchs in there, but I think I'm going to add a few more. They really are great scavengers and can reach into nooks and crannies. There are a few cucumbers that help keep the sand stirred on the top, but they tend to stay close to the base of the rocks. I believe they are called Tigertail. I had the common cucs in my old tank and they did a much better job on the open sand. It was always white.

I think I over did it a bit with the papone feeding, unless the addition of the three anthias cause the bloom. They're a pretty good size. Maybe the biology needed to catch up?

It could also bee the removal of the Tunze on the Sea Sweeps. There's obviously less flow. However the two Vortechs are doing a nice job. I want to see if they work alone or I'll have to add the others back.

Could be, but you need cleaners that will go beneath the surface to take care of over-feeding problems. How about some nerite snails and sand sifting gobies? The pink spot sand sifting goby (Cryptocentrus leptocephalus) as recently recommended on Mr. Saltwater Tank is quite nice and pretty peaceful. Plus it doesn't get as big and messy as the diamond goby.

Plus it doesn't get as big and messy as the diamond goby.

I like the idea of the pink spot goby There are quite a lot of nerite snails in there. Well there were. Don't see them often so I assume they're in the sand bed. I do however see the crabs having lunch on some snails once in a while so maybe it's time to replenish

Hi efrainz and thanks Yes the ipad is there 24/7. I use it to interface with the Apex and to record tank parameters with Aquaplanner Pro. The ipad makes things much easier to control at the tank, such as shutting down pumps and the skimmer for cleaning, etc. It also makes record keeping much more convenient so I don't get lazy about it as I did when I kept a paper journal. I can also see at a glance, the various parameters that I have probes monitoring. It's an original ipad so it's already outdated LOL

I would suggest a spot breast angel. Also a school of dartfish. If you can find them try the whitetail tang. Almost impossible to find and the price is all over the place.

Added two new fish - Goldflake Angel and Pink Spotted Goby - and moved some things around to hopefully stem any thoughts of aggression. That Kole Tang is the tank boss. Didn't want him harassing the Goldflake. There's some slight aggression, but the Goldflake isn't taking it poorly and seems to be going about his business.

Happy to see that little goby make a home front and center. He should put on a fun show to watch.

Thanks Nick. Well I didn't like the black background. Haven't had the opportunity to put the blue on. I'm going to only put it on the back. The sides seem to be reflective when the lights in the fishroom are off, so there won't be anything visible thru them. However I like having the ability to view the tank from the side.
