Easy on the caps. Typing in all capitol letters is interpreted as yelling, and usually causes people to either ignore what's written, or interpret it as antagonistic. While there is certainly nothing wrong with new ideas or simply trying to get people to think, there are better ways

Feel free to take a look through my gallery, plenty of pics of my own stuff as well as quite a few from some friends tanks and a large 20,000 gallon reef in my local public aquarium. Pictures from the aquarium and those friends mentioned are all labeled as such BTW in all cases, including the public aquarium, are run on modifications of the berlin system...i.e. sand beds, lots of live rock, protein skimmers etc. and have pretty hefty coral and fish loads

in your case i suggest you consider tank like business:

using alcool/acetat decrease the cost of water changes plus salt because you change less water.experiment you will see...

You keep control with nitrates and phosphates for very low costs if you compare with all kinds of resines and water changes.

And do not tell me rocks control it because it is false! it is true only for small animal loads.(compare fishes and volume of course)

(using also BBK would decrease your electric bill!)

using filters like i describe allows you to push safely limits and collect your bacterioplancton!(very usefull for mesocosm) because live plancton and brachios cost a lot. (i use also phyto/brachio to feed so i know the music).

it gives you the possibility to have less lived rocks (which take a lot of place and cost also) for much more results: more fishes and animals safely and less maintenance cheaply!

As i told you i just inform people to practice in better conditions.

At the moment only interesting advices i got was to use tropic marin salt which cost 2 times more than aquarium system(which i use).ONLY TO DECREASE MY KH!!

it is very poor if you compare with all infos i give....

Making a career out of mixing water with electricity, I've been shocked plenty of times :eek1: :lol:

I have tried those methods, and yes they can work. But there are other benefits to water changes that would prevent me from every agreeing to the less water change school of thought.

Again I wouldn't advise less water changes just due to lower nitrates/phosphates. I also prefer to use a refugium over use of resins for nitrate/phosphate removal and of course a refugium provides other benefits as well

i did all that as many people did it also and result is:

it takes a lot of place and works just a little! but it helps so it is good. But 10(far far far far far)2 not enough.....

pretty soon i will show you other innovation with photos and testing results about refugia...be patient.

i test also a device supposed to decrease my KH with help of bacteria. i will let also soon people know what i get...

Because i will find how to decrease this KH!!ONE DAY...

Also it is amazing to me that most people do not look about magnesium,Potassium, bore, etc which would make progress to the hobby one do not imagine....
I will go back to the chemistry one of those day! i will continu to push a little people....hahahh

i am going to set up a 2 m tank so i can show many big fishes because all those little reef fishes hide most of the time!
Before going to a mesocosm...and really big ones.

How many languages do you speak/write? While poissonist's english might not be the best and take a little a work to understand what he/she is trying to say, I'll bet it's still better than your French. I know it's certainly better than my French

i always try to help reefers and give (freely) infos. and i like to joke!

As everybody begin to see i am different because i always wonder why about everything! And how to do to improve things. Even if it is a little.

little plus little plus little brings me a lot!

To make short about KH, i will one day find how to maintain it in safe conditions and i will let know everybody how!

Because what we do each day with our aquarium is to understand better and better marine life.

Maintaining nice animals in safe conditions is our goal even if it offen uthopy. Years after years we get closer and closer....of the nature!

I don't know if you were really wondering or trying to make a point Bill, but I speak/write two languages: English and Spanish.

I realize that is nothing compared to how many European's generally speak however.

Sorry if I offended you poissonist, it was meant as a joke. I understand some of what you are trying to say. You're English is definately better than my French as I never tried to learn French. I've also never tried to learn Mandarin Chinese, and I don't expect everyone to learn English. But I wouldn't expect people to be perfectly complacent when I'm making a bunch of statements in a broken version of their language. And after all, if you call me a sheep at least I have the right to make fun of your English.

as i said before (i begin to repeat as a teacher...) it looks like berlin method aquarium but contains a lot of animals!

i now set up a 700 liters to show much more "gregaires" fishes.
As anthias and other groups of fishes plus all little reef fishes...

i will wait many months to show it, so nobody will tell it works because it is new...

i only begin to speak about advanced methods and pretty soon next!
