Interceptor Dip Dosing

I just had my first red bug scare and have decided to start dipping with Interceptor. Since one pill will kill red bugs in 380g of water I wanted to store a "solution" in a 5g jug for dipping needs. Here is what I came up with for dosing, let me know if I did this correctly please.

1 pill for 380 gallons

Dissolved in 5g of water will work out to 1g of solution for every 76g of water.

1g = 128 oz

128/76 = 1.6oz per gallon to kill red bugs.

I will use 2oz just to round it up.

Does this sound like it will work? If so, how long do you think I can keep my solution stored for without losing potency?

Sounds like it may work. The way I do it is crush one large pill for distribution. Take one gallon of saltwater that has been premixed and take one spoonful (this is the spoon in the Calcium Test kit from Salifert ) and dump it in the one gallon with the acro. stirring every 10 minutes or putting a very low power powerhead in the bucket. Let the coral(s) set in the bucket for roughly 1-2 hours and viola... bug free. I have done this on a couple occasions now with new acros that I know had bugs and they were good to go afterwards.

Edit - I think you could store that solution for a good while, as long as there is no evaporation. Only thing is to keep it out of reach of little ones; this stuff would be bad if ingested.

Would it be advantagous to up the dose to minimize the dip time? How long yould you recommend the dip?

I do have all the info on treatment. Some have had to do it 3 times.

spsfreak thanks for answering. I think i'm gonna give it a try and see how it goes.

wld1783 from some of the more recent information I have heard these are live bearers and once you kill the adults you do not have to worry about future generations. One dip should be enough.
