Interceptor treatment and aefw?

Anyone know how to set up a poll, see how many people treated for red bugs and got the bonus aefws, how many treated and didn't get the worms.

These are the kind of threads I'm afraid of. I'm just about to do my second dose of Interceptor. Will flatworm exit kill off the AEFW? Should this be dosed also?

If you did the first dose, go ahead and do the second.
I am not certain that there is any connection between the 2 events, just curious to see how many have had it happen.

FWE will not touch aefw's. If it would, they wouldnt be so feared.

Nothing we know of at this point that will kill aefw's can be used as a in tank treatment.

Wow.... I thought I was Imagining all this. I also started to have aefw issues after I treated for red bugs. I'm not sure if there's a connection, but it happened like everyone else is saying.

I just dosed interceptor for the first time yesterday so this thread is freaking me out too.

Is there some way to quickly repopulate the large amphipods/mysid shrimp that are the most likely predator of AEFW eggs? I don't have a refugium. I bought some copepods but it must be the larger pods that are doing something to the AEFW's. Either that or our scarlet cleaner shrimp that are getting killed during the RB treatments.

How many people who treated w/ interceptor, then got AEFW, lost their cleaner shrimp in the RB process and didn't replace them?

Cleaner shrimp aren't the missing link, didn't have one. I'm thinking pods or something else, may eat the eggs or maybe the worms, either way keeping them in check.

I'm starting just starting off with acros and have a separate 10 gal QT set up. What do you all suggest in terms of the best method for dipping/treating the new arrivals. I don't want to overstess the corals after being shipped.
I don't want to dose my main tank and make sure I get all parasites taken care of in the QT process (AEFW, Redbugs, etc).
Should I dose with Interceptor, Lugols iodine and coral revive? And if so,what order and how long should they be QT'd before moving to main display?

Check another one up for interceptor treament only to find out I had AEFW afterwards. I had suspected this right after I did and everyone kept saying your nuts. I believe there is a connection. I wonder if we treated for AEFW that maybe the red bugs might be gone too. Maybe there is something else keeping them in check. I will be more causious of what I do to the tank from now on.

There has to be a connection.
An in tank interceptor treatment chagnes the ecology of the tank due to pods, crusteceans being wiped out.

When they come back its not the same anymore. As other the order of species become dominant.
just a theory and thoughts..

sullyman, I now have AEFW, and will lose all my acros to them. Never, ever again will I do Interceptor vs red bugs, which are not harmful in themselves. They probably increase in number if there are AEFW around -- wouldn't doubt it at all. My corals were fine, colorful, growing.

But they'll be gone soon as I am about to go on a 2-week trip and just discovered this plague. Amazing how difficult the AEFW are to see ... they are virtually invisible while in the display.

Guess I will be without acros for the rest of 2011. Sigh.
