Interceptor treatment

I found a vet an hour away thanks to a reef club member that was able to sell me 12 of the 11-25lb tablets. Not optimal but it is why I can get due to the current production hault.

I am treating my roughly 220 gallons of actual water volume. I have a small balck dot on the underside of my monti caps that I can see moving and I can see a visual tissue damage as well. I have looked around and interceptor seems my best chance.

I am thinking I will use 3 tablets for each of the 3 rounds. How long should I let the medicine run before running carbon? And how Lon should I wait before a w/c and how big?

Why do you think interceptor? There's a good chance IMO that your just seeing a pod that's cleaning up the dead tissue from some other problem. Are all the other corals in your tank doing well? Interceptor is mainly a treatment for red bugs that prey on acropora tissue as you probably know it does kill other animals as well. I don't know if it is your best choice without more information.

3 tablets is far too much. you need to use one tablet per round. thats if you have red bugs.

I wasn't able to get the 51-100lbs I could only find the 11-25lb. Not optimal but that is what there is because of a stop of production. The parent company that produces onterceptor is temporarily closed.

I am aware. I have been searching for an answer as to why I was getting tissue damage on a few monti colonies. Caps from the edges and encrusters from the center. The colonies I was having the most trouble with all had these suspect little black pods on the underside. My LFS came by and suggested interceptor as a treatment and pointed me to this thread http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1899707

I also had this lesser known cousin to redbugs last year - monti black bugs. I have pics of my infected caps in the pest thread. I was able to get rid of them with only one treatment of Interceptor. I dosed based on the standards out there.

Based on the accepted standards, for your 220G volume I suggest using about 14.06mg of Interceptor tablets for each treatment.

1. Remove all hermits, small crabs and shrimp. Dosed in this way, larger crabs like Emeralds should live. My large cleaner shrimp has been fine too through two dosings, and snails seem to be unaffected.
2. Remove airline to skimmer so it just flushes water through the skimmer.
3. Remove carbon.
4. Pulverize tablet until it's a fine powder.
5. Warm a cup of tank water in the microwave a bit.
6. Stir in interceptor into cup, making sure to dissolve completely.
7. Pour into tank in area of high flow.
8. Wait 12 hours.
9. Do a 25-30% water change (PITA)
10. Put fresh carbon back in.

Repeat in a week if you feel you need to. Do not put your hermits/crabs/small crustaceans back in the tank for two weeks after last treatment, or they will likely die (believe me I know). Do 10% water changes each consecutive week that the crabs are out of the display.

So far it looks all good... I am about to do a 55g water change and add the carbon back in! Been about 20 hours since treatment.
