Interested in Ricordea's

Hello -

Been waiting a while to add corals/mushrooms to my 12g nano with standard lighting. Hit the 6 month mark and now feel like I'm ready to try.

Love the pictures of the Ricordea's I see on this site. Wanted some help with questions before I introduce any:

  1. Current tank contains a clownfish, 3 barnacle blennies, 2 scarlet hermit crabs and 5 sexy shrimp. Are any of these a problem with Ricordea's?
  2. None of my local LFS have Ricordea. Thinking of purchasing from Live Aquaria. Any thoughts on the packs they have available?
  3. Any other tips/suggestions?

Thanks!

Have you asked them if they can get any? I would also try local reefers before ordering online. Although I am picky about colors and such, I have noticed a lot of them can have really bland colors. I just like to know what im getting before I pay someone.

Have to admit that I have not asked about ordering them. I've had such good luck with Live Aquaria, and one bad experience with a LFS, that I haven't bought anything other than supplies at the LFS.

Ive always had good experiences with LiveAquaria. However I've never order one of their 'packs', so would be weary of not getting the colors I'm after.

I agree with Zalman. Find a local reef club/forum. It's a lot easier to buy individual pieces, you can see the pieces in person or at least see pics before hand, and the prices are usually better than fair.

If your looking for Ricordea Florida I would also recommend checking out http://coralmorphologic.com

Where are you located?

I ordered about 100 orange ricordia from liveAquaria back about 4 years ago....and they all came in absolutley stunning. We're talking orange crush bright orange and many of them had multiple mouths. Big fat plump bright orange. Not sure what they have now, but I would not hesitate to order from them again...
