Rodger, i have 4 6100's on my tank.. remotely, in a separate equipment room i have the controllers, transformers, and wavemaker mounted on a board about 4" below the top of the tank.. seems like water traveled through the 6100 motor block through the cable and into the connection in the controller.. noticed a wierd stain on the outside of the controller ( silver box ) looked closer and its all salt... anyway i disconnected the unit and temporarly put the end of the cord above the tank waterline..

how do i proceed

thanks,

Joe

btw the unit is still working.. think i caught it intime...

I would check near the pump body for a break in the outside covering of the cord. I have seen this a few times happen with age and then water might be working it's way down the cable.

As Shawn said, there has to be a tear in the cable and by capillary action water is wicking back. There is no fix, the pump you have was discontinued over 5 years ago and the spare motors are no longer available. The only remedy is the 6100.015 offered on our website, this is actually a full upgrade to 6105 consisting of a new power supply, new pump and an adapter clamp to fit the pump on the holder you have. Compared to buying a new 6105 from a dealer it lacks the magnet holder and wide flow housing.
