There was a post sometime ago that said the OPs dog took a poop inside the tank, s/he should pitch in!

Joke aside, it is because natural reefs are nitrate and phosphate limited. Reefs in aquariums are rarely are. So you don't need to add bird poo to your tank.

How is that even possible?
 
Dog pooped on the stair above the tank and poop rolled and dropped into the tank.

I deal with dog pool in my pool more often then I would like. I let them free in my backyard pool screen enclosure and they poop away... A strong gust of wind or something sometimes knocks it over into the pool.
