Interesting Pohl's Xtra thread

I posted this thread about the effects of a large overdose of PX on the reef chemistry forum, but I thought some of you SPS fanatics might find it interesting :)

Yeah that is interesting, I'm glad that it didn't impact anything negatively.

I have been dosing PE at half dose for a couple weeks now.

I did notice that some of the new corals that I have added are already beginning to take off quickly, which never happens for me. New stuff that I add is typically stagnant for at least a month.

Interesting ... Indeed I have it but stoped dozing it b/c I did not notice a change.

Maybe I will give it another GO! HUmm

Thanks for posting

To be clear, my experience isn't really an endorsement of PX-- more just an observation of what happens when you dose 11 times the recommended amount! But that said, I am currently dosing at 0.5 x to see if there is a long-term, hopefully beneficial effect.

I have been running a hybrid Zeo/Biopellet system for almost a year. I also have an account on Zeovit and have done a lot of reading on their products prior to dosing them. They actually have a table that shows what supplements are similar. POhl's Extra does have AA and trace.

Also based on the OP's prior thread, his conclusion would be correct as to observing a lightening of his coral. FWIW, there are actually 2 types of Pohl's xtra:

Pohls Extra- used to specifically lighten corals that have darkened up in a Zeo tank.

Pohl's Extra Special- used to darken corals that have become pale in a Zeo system.

Jason, I'd love to see that table that implies some of the compositions of the zeovit line. Could you please send a link?

Thanks!

Interesting. I was dosing Pohls for a month and saw no effect, so I stopped. I give all additives a 30 day window to show any kind of change.

Try dosing 11 times more than the instructions recommend (I'm joking, sort of :)

I definitely noticed an effect on coloration, mostly for the better, with the exception of the light green A. austeras.

I've been using this for the last 2 weeks and it has shown me more results then anything else on the market right now. My acros and montis have exploded with growth as well as stupid Xenia that won't go away. My alk demand has shot thru the roof once was stable at 10 now it's at 6 so I had to up my bubble count to keep up with the demand of growth.
