Just popped in a MH recently.
my maxima 1/2 way up the tank is looking like gaping after day one.
I expected his mouth to zip up but it opened pretty big.
I thought with 250 MH i could even keep it on the sand bed.
2" maxima directly under the MH.
Bulb is like 7" from the surface.
I question whether it was a boost of light or loss of light.
It makes no sense for it to gape if the light source is more intense.
But it does make sense for it to gape if it is getting less light.
It does too me, the sudden boost of intense lighting most likely caused it to stress. Acclimation to new bulbs or lighting is just as important as acclimating to new water condition.
Might be shocked with the sudden boost in light....
