Hey guys,

I have searched for ID but haven't found anything quite like this.

Any ideas what this is? Thanks.

My first though was Cladaphora prolifera. It could (by a miracle lol) be chaeto standing up, probably not though. It could also be Enteromorpha.

Gracilaria is many colors. Red, green, brown, many shades in between. It isn't gracilaria though. I agree its most likely a type of Cladophora.

Thanks guys. Having had a good trawl through different green algae pictures I agree it's probably a cladophora of some type although it's really difficult to pin down which type. Most picture show it in clumps of many stalks whereas I have just one main stalk of it. It seems to be behaving itself quite well at the moment so I might see how it goes, it's quite a nice little thing really.

Yeah that was my initial problem in saying it was Cladophora! :D If I ever come across this one I'll let you know!

I wanted to say Gracilaria ist Rhodophyta and not Chlorophyta. :-)
