Hey guys,...i just got my first AC3 yesterday from Curt at Max. Very quick question as im sure im missing something.

I used the default adress to set up the AC3: 192.168.1.50

And i can access it just fine from my laptop. The only thing i dont get is that by going to whatismyip.com and typing that on a browser that sends me to my router control panel.

I set up a dydns account and i also set my port forwarding, but as i say my ip takes to my router settings ? what am i missing ?

thank you

It sounds like port forwarding may not be correctly configured. You may need to disable access to your router control panel from outside or change the port on the AC3 and access the AC3 using a different port.

See i just changed the port to 100 in my router and also on the AC3 and it wouldnt even connect.

I can connect directly by going to 192.168.2.50:80,...just that if i go to whats my ip and go to that adress it directs me to my router settings rather then the aquacontroller. I already checked at dyndns.org to see if my port 80 is free and usable and it is. hmm,...im sure im missing smth

Ken i just installed your simulator,...im going to give it a try right now...thanks for that

If you changed the port on the AC3 and can still connect using '192.168.2.50:80' then the port change isn't in effect. I have found that changing the port can sometimes require a reset of the AC3 before it takes affect. Once the port change is working (as verified by connecting using: '192.168.2.50:<port>' then try connecting from the internet.

FYI: hope you like the simulator; don't forget to download the Vista Gadget (if you are running Vista that is);)

Ken,..i did restart. It wasnt connection to :80 when i changed the port to 80. Something is funky though because i cant get my aquanotes to recognize AC,...or your simulator. im going back to it see whats wrong,...starting to aggravate me :)

ps....which is very strange (aquanotes not connecting) because if i go to 192.168.2.50:80 i do get the interface

AquaNotes uses port 23 (Telnet) port; the HTTP port number should not affect AquaNotes. For the simulator you do need to include the port number in the address (but it sounds like you did that)

Both the sim and gadget use the internet addressing scheme; if your AC3 was at address 192.168.1.50 and your port was 90 then the address would be entered as: 192.168.1.50:90.

if you want to try it out; I have an AC3 that I use for testing software; not tank connected. It is configured to port 90. To connect to the AC3 you can use:

http://kensreef.dyndns.org:90

This is port forwarded to 192.168.1.60 (inside my firewall).

I'll leave the test port working for a while if you want to play. Use this address in the Sim/gadget and you can connect:

kensreef.dyndns.org:90

You don't need the 'http://' prefix for the software; that is only needed for a browser.

Ken,..thank you. I got swamped with work suddenly so i didnt do anything else today. I will follow your advice soon as i get to play some more

thanks again,...im sure i will update this thread shortly with dumb noob questions

cheers
