I have a single large female Percula. My assumption is its a female. She is over 2.25 inches and she has the temperament of a rattlesnake. Every time I've tried to introduce a tank mate she has viciously attacked. The last attempt I put in a juvenile, on the basis that a female would not attack a juvenile; WRONG! Within 15 minutes I have to rescue the juvenile and put it in a tank by itself to recover. I then got the idea to build a 2 gal Plexiglas tank with a lot of holes in it. I ordered a 1.5 inch Percula and after acclimation put it in the 2 gal tank which I then put in the 40 gal tank my Percula was in. I kept this arrangement up for two days; long enough for the female and the smaller Percula to go nose to nose without having access to each other. After two days I released the smaller Percula into the 40 gal tank and to my amazement, there was no aggression on the part of my large Percula. In fact, they are getting along like long lost friends. Hopefully this continues. Below is a picture of the pair.
