introducing my 870gal tank (pics ahead)

I love the new pics! You have a beautiful tank. Usually when people put corals on the sandbed, it looks disgusting. When you put them on the sandbed, it looks so natural. Thats how i like it :)

Can you take a full tank shot picture like you did in your first post? I want to see the entire room with the corals filled out. :) It gives me a better perception. :)

BRO! WOW you are THE man!!! If RC chose your tank for TOTM it would definitely be the greatest TOTM ever. Actually this should be nominated for TOTY!

Thanks again guys and sorry about not answering here,
I was ill some days (no big issue) and forgot that there was a discussion going on *blush*.

Invincible: I'll try to make such a pic again in the next days, it wasn't that easy to have
the coral and fish and also the surroundings in the right light without messing around with
different pictures, combining them in photoshop.
Its sunny again and together with 2 additional flashes, it should work.

wunderbar! sehr gut ralf. du bis eine ubermensch...

I think its du bist ;). Anyways, that is a beautiful tank and I hope I can have a tank that looks somewhat similar to that someday. Great Job!

I'm amazed with your tank. Have any pics of your new anthias? How about some closer coral shots. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers

ok, that's one awesome tank.

I'm working on my next tank.....I want to go with something much deeper as well.

Question.....is anything lost in water clarity when you're looking through the 4 feet. I can see the effect when I look into the side of my tank and while it's clear, it doesn't seem to be as bright as when you're looking at the tank front on.

I can attest that water quality becomes more important the deeper the tank gets. When you are looking through 4, 5, or even 8' of water, clarity is indeed a big issue. That's why many large tank owners employ a variety of methods to keep the water "clean". :)

Thanks Ralf. Looking forward to them. Take your time.

Heyho...

Seems, that I am a bit lazy in the moment.
Well, I took some few quick pics (with the requested total) today.

I agree with jnarowe, clear water is really importand if you look through a thick water layer.
As I have some sand-digging gobys in the tank, I use a "AMA Prefilter" filtersock, where the water from the
overflow will have to pass through. It's relatively fine and gets stuck in less than a week
and have to be washed clean again after that. (Have two to change).

Btw. I tossed the Aquamedic Reefdoser, I used to replace the grotec doser.
It got stuck too often and it was not very reliable.
(jnarowe you were so right with your warning, and I was prepared, thanks very much!)
I now ordered industrial/laboratory grade hosepumps from harton.de, hopefully they'll do a better job.

Well, here are the few quick pics from today:
