wow
,
oysterman,
pls. don't stop reefkeeping.
Currently I am keeping one adult and several small Sepia bandensis in a seperate system connected to my fragtank system in the basement.
My wife loves handfeeding the adult one ;-)
hookup,
with a relative low amount of fish/feeding for the volume and high coral-load, I don't think that I need a nutrient export system like ultralith, zeovit or other filters with a zeolith type of mineral, bacteria etc.
Well, maybe I could achieve more china looking colors with that, but imho also the risk of getting too low on nutrients.
Without using such a system or absorbers, I have no PO4 nor NO3 detectable.
Reducing traceelements and adding NO3 brought back the colors I like.
As I use several hundret kilos of the Balling chemicals a year, I buy them in larger amounts and not the faunamarin bags, but thats nearly the same system.
I don't have the algae partition anymore. Once a year, I add a box of LR in the "clearwater" chamber of my filter and give the old LR away. I hope that keeps biodiversity (bacteria) up.
Best,
Ralf
