Introduction + Setting up quarantine tank and mixing station

Hello everyone, I just wanted to take a second to introduce myself here.

I am very new to the hobby and have been doing a ton of research over the past months. I have wanted a reef tank for a long time now but could never justify it because I have always been renting and moving every year.

I just finally bought a house this past month and I am diving in head first. My tank just arrived on Thursday and the rest of the parts have been slowly trickling in. Lights and dry rock should be coming today.

In parallel I am trying to start nailing down what kind of QT and mixing equipment I will need.

For mixing my plan is to use two brute trash cans. One for DI water and one for mixed water. I plan to build a stand to put the DI can directly above the mix can.

For the mix can I am thinking I will need a heater and some sort of powerhead to keep the water moving.

For quarantine I am thinking of using a 30 gallon tank, with a basic air-driven sponge filter for filtration, and a cheap fluorescent shop light that I have laying around above it. My QT plan is to use TTM in buckets or totes followed by 4-6 weeks of observation in the QT tank.

Does anyone have any old tanks or equipment laying around that they would be willing to sell? Let me clean out your garage! I am mainly interested in something around 30 gal for the QT tank and an old powerhead or two for mixing. I would also take small heaters and air pumps if you are looking to get rid of them.

Welcome I have a 20 gallon tank if you want for qt I had already used copper in it so not much use other then qt for fish

I have a new in box ATO, (auto top off), I'm gonna be putting up for 75 bucks. It's an AutoAqua. I can give you more info if you want it.

Also have a powerhead I would sell for about $15

What make and model? Is it a good candidate for mixing salt water?

I already have an ATO for my DT.

I hadn't thought about an ATO on a quarantine tank. Would I be ok if I just monitored the water level every other day and added DI water as needed?

I got it from BRS a couple months ago for 111 bucks. Price seems to have gone up since then. I thought it was pretty cool, but BRS gave me a deal on a controller that I really couldn't pass up, so I don't need it now.
