I'm still struggling with these blue Cloves my self. Tried a red fromia and it didnt touch the stuff. It's having a war with GSP on one of the rocks, Will try to get a picture later.

I have a chocolate chip in my sump, not sure if I trust it that much.

So here is the damage,

War against GSP, I think GSP is winning.

War on Dendro, I think Blue Cloves are winning.

War with Cyphastria, hard to tell this one.

War on Zoas, stale mate.

Wow glad I saw this thread. I just got a frag of these, and have heard they spread fast but this is crazy! I will be sure to isolate them on a single rock. Does anyone know if they will 'jump' from rock to rock if they are a few inches from eachother, or is it a direct contact sort of thing?

Do a search on Fluke Tabs.

I had a similar problem with Anthelia, one Fluke tab per 100 gallons of water wiped out the Anthelia, also took out my clove polyps and hydroids.

It will kill any worms or softies and is also bad for shrimp. My fish, LPS, SPS, anemones, hermit crabs and snails had no ill effects.

I was very skeptical about using Fluke tabs until I read some posts from RC members who have tried it. I don't think you will be successful mechanically eradicating these polyps from a large tank and I would encourage you to read up on Fluke Tabs and consider using them.

This is interesting for me, thanks for the great info. How do these polyps do against larger softies like toadstools and such? I knew these could be a problem so I've avoided them to date, but they are very pretty.

Not to highjack this thread but I have a SPS dominated tank and am also attempting to control rapid spread of blue clove polyps. Has any one else tried the suggested long spine urchin or cowrie? Are there any other natural preditors? What kind of a cowrie would be best and would the cowrie eat LPS? I have a collection of aussie scolys and high-end chalices, I would literally cry if the cowie developed a taste for these.

i have 2 tanks one is for mean fish and a chocolate chip star.. when my xenia start to over grow i put the rock in with him he eats it all i put rock back in tank.. we are both happy in the end

I have these in my tank also and started noticing them growing in different places where i dont want them. Last weekend I covered a few patches with A kalk paste. Seemed to kill them. I am going to hit some more this weekend.

Stuff in My Tank -- Blue Snowflake Anthelia

I've taken this stuff out of my tank. It was only in there a couple weeks, so I don't think it had time to spread--at least, I haven't seen it anywhere else...

too bad you guys are complaining about this stuff. I can't even get it locally here in ME. I've been wanting some for so long to use in my softy dominated reef to fill the gaps between sacrophytons and sinularias. Why not just frag the heck out of it and sell it in the proper forum. Already there are people wanting to buy this stuff. Divers den gets a good chunk of coin for it so I bet it would go fast if the price were right. Sounds like a good way to support the hobby to me.
