Invasion of the RBTAs

Do you ever worry that you are keeping them in poor conditions for them to be splitting all the time? I'm only a newbie so I'm not having a go at you or anything. I just thought they would only split if under stress.

Dave.

Would you willing to sell any of these. They are actively splitting right?. I want a few to put in my tank for my new maroon gold bands i have. I refuse to pay $99 for a 2 inch bta that is so small its impossible to feed. Id give you $50 per bta plus shipping. I will need about 4-5 months for the tank to mature to a stage i feel comfortable with adding an anemome. I would just like to check to see if you would do this. Please pm me with cost of shipping including, overnighting and cold packs. Ill pay it all.

Let's keep in mind this is not a selling forum. Take any requests/offers to pm.

Mine never split for 4 years, now I have 4.

Don't plan on selling any of them. Im actually trying to acquire MORE with hopes of building a large cube species tank for them. Though they do split when the environment is out of whack mine are splitting because they are fed so well. They receive soaked krill and silverside (switch off) twice a week. They were acquired in late March and were 2"-3" wide, and now split when they reach about 8". Im planning on adding one of my pairs of Picassos sometime this week and will add pics when I do.

Mine are in a 40. I hope to have it totally covered some day. The way mine are splitting it may be awhile tho.

I have been there before!!!! I had a chance back in March to purchase 9 (3-5") RBTAs for $20.00 a piece, and couldn't resist. They have been the quickest splitters of all the different ones I have. I had my 75 set-up with them but the overflow was kinda noisey and wanted something small and easy to do water changes every week. Lets see some pics of your 40 Debi.

New 24g when I first put the RBTAs in. The 2 at the top are from clones from the same parent anemone and were under VHOs.

The two on top are not as nicely colored as the others. Do they still look different now? Do you feel the lighting makes the others that darker red? If so what lighting do you think shows them off the best?

Yes, the two ones up top where in my 75 which needs the VHOs replaced. The other ones were housed in my 12g nano which has PCs. I am very pleased with the PCs and had never used them prior to setting up my 12g. Just and update on the two in the top, they have been growing and starting to slowly brighten up. I will try and post pics in the next few day.

Wow I am amazed you can keep their color under PC's

I recently bought a RBTA to keep in my nano under PC's and it split. I then moved the split to a 12g JBJ where it split again. Problem is they are all losing there color. What do you dose your tank with? Feed?

I feed mine scallops and shrimp weekly. Also do 30-40% water changes weekly.

Last question - is this a "Sherman" RBTA from the Dallas area?

TX I do for the most part a 2g water change on the 12 weekly and a 4g change on the 24. I feed them all Krill soaked in Selcon and Garlic Guard at least once a week (usually twice a week) and switch off with Silverside once a month. Have no idea if this is a "Sherman", got the original from a local reefer who started with one that turned into 40 in his 210.

Thanks Ian,

The "sherman" is a legend in the Dallas Area for spliting like crazy. If you search the DFWMAS boards I am sure you could track it down ...if you wanted to know for sure.

Lets see some pics of yours and others. I have to work a 12 hour shift tonight but will be downloading pics tomorrow.

Ok here is a few that I got to before work with my New Nikon D40. The fish should be transfered from my clownfish system to the nano sometime this week.

great pics and nems.. they seem to do very well under PC lighting.. I feed my rbta and gbta about every 2-3 days, just cyclopeez, formula one, or mysis.. they both split recently and now have 4 :)

just switched one of them out to my 120 tank under T5's and it's hidden under a rock :(

Yes they are Picassos and from ORA. Should be in the tank sometime this week...........maybe tonight. I'll post more pics when it happens. Lets see some of everyone elses pics, come on share.
