I have a tiny starfish....about half the size of a dime in with my mantis. He doesn't seem to notice him or at least ignores him. I keep him pretty well fed with live shrimp though. I do leave other feeder shrimp in there with him with some macro algae so that they are camaflouged. So far he has only killed one of them on his own through out the night when I didn't feed him. Normally, I force one of the shrimps in front of his burrow so that he can attack. Gruesome but entertaining. From what i've read, it seems that if they are well fed, they will ignore everything nonthreatening. Hope that helps a bit.
