IO vs T Marin Salt

Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve been using Instant Ocean (IO) salt for over 15 years now. Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve found it to be pretty much consistent and reliable for both Reef tanks and swim tanks.

Recently I have been considering switching my salt over to
Tropic Marin (TM). Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve heard that TM salt is easier to mix and has a better mixture especially for Reef systems. I have seen reports that actually show the chemical composition of both salts and feel either will work well. However, IO is still the cheaper solution.

Curious to know whether anyone out there has made the switch from IO to TM and what any thoughts or impressions are regarding how well the reef did afterwards.

We switched from Reef Crystals to Tropic Marin. I really like the Tropic Marin. It does mix much easier, and is very consistent. Keeps everything in line.

I have only used tropic marin, I'm very happy with it but never tried any other salt. I was considering using another because of the price $85.00 for a 5 gal bucket [200 gallons] But everyone tell's me tropic marin is the best.

I started out with IO in my reef. Life was good. It's pretty bullet-proof salt. Then some LFS convinced me that Tropic Marin Pro Reef was the second coming - so I bought a 200G bucket.

It does indeed mix easier, but I think everything in the tank looks MUCH better while using IO.

My bucket just ran out and I'm switching back to IO.
