IO's new gel food

Hi,

Has anyone tried the new IO gel food. It seems to be an alternative to frozen, it has a bout 10% protein which is about double other frozen food, and about a 1/5th of dried food.

But most important it has a picture of a copperband on it, so that must mean mine will eat it... Right. :)

I have used it before. Mainly when i was away so it was easier for my wife. The fish seemed to like it and it was easy to use.

Thanks.

I hope the fish eat it.

If they do I think I will use it as my treat food instead of frozen. It is a bit more expensive, but well worth it if it means not having to explain to my Wife why I need to keep frozen worms in the freezer.

Lol. You aren't the only one, I must have 4 or 5 flatpacks of something or other in my freezer.

That said, I've never used the gel food. The only thing I've tried was the grazing blocks which my fish didn't really touch.

Ive never heard of it but im gonna check it out. Be a lot easier for tank sitters. people look at me like im crazy when they see The meal i put togehter for these tanks.

I tried it this morning. My fish looked at it and left it alone. If they did ingest it, they would spit it out. They hated it.

I have used the IO Carnivore gel food in my FOWLR for a few months now. All the fish seem to love it. My Niger trigger will wait at the top of the water to grab bits of the stuff before anyone else. I think it's OK as past of my feeding regimen. I don't know that I would feed it exclusively though. As for the Butterfly taking it, try it and see.

Hi,

Well here is my update.

Most my fish did not like it. However the Copperband did eye it - not eat it but maybe next time.

The big surprise was my Spotted Mandarin went for it, and seemed to go back for more.

While I have no issue keeping my Mandarin fat, some people may want to try this gel food if their's are struggling.

I have used it, and find it lacking. The food has a very small particle size, and when the fish eat it- quite a bit comes back out of the gills and whatnot. People with vertmid snails, aptasia or algae issues should avoid foods that particulate such as this food does.
