iPhone App

What do you mean by "going through the web"?

Is your router configured to forward the web port (8080 or whatever) to the IP of the controller? Also are you port forwarding the Telnet port (23) to the controller?

I've had excellent results with the iPhone app even after the beta firware upgrade.

Sorry, I meant when I try to connect from out of my local network (from work, etc). Everything is configiured properly (as far as I know). The Iphone app will look for the IP and connect, but will not show any information or data. When I just type the IP, it goes right to the AC3- no issues.

Heres another wierd glitchy thing. When I connect by the app on my local network (using the local IP address), the app ALWAYS states there is a "problem with the controller", and the an alarm is on. Despite the fact that all parameters are within range, and the alarm is NOT on. The only way to disable the alarm is to sync the iphone app with the clock on my iphone, which erases the datalog.

Did you update the web pages? Was the second tab on the update program

I thought I did so correctly, but I'll need to check to make sure, I guess.

I was able to update the firmware and get the Iphone App install in 15 mins. Both are working perfectly!!

I have the latest firmware for the iPhone installed and just updated my ACIII 3.40S_6B09. I've got the forward rules in place and I can see Temp, pH, ORP and look at my Program etc. What I don't see is the devices at the bottom. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Do you have your timers mark with red/green for ON/OFF.? I have only the green and empty (transparent) . I don't have the red for OFF.
The rest of the APP works great, and this APP is the most useful and helpful APP that I have.

What port should the app look to, 23 or 80?

Whatever it is that you have as HTTP port in the ACIII. 80 is the default.

OK before I read all 20pgs...does this apply to the new Apex controller also? If so I will read it all. Thanks guys.

I don't think so Cato.

Bummer...I just went to the iPhone app store and it says it supports the ACIII- ACIII pro AND Apex. Anyone using the app for thier Apex??? Having second thoughts now about upgrading to one.

Hey CATO, I am probably wrong, try it, it is a free application, and it should work. good luck!

The App does connect to the apex and give you current status.

The issue is that looking at graphs or controlling the outlets might make the Apex reboot.

I've had issues of the app not connecting to my Apex while I was able to connect via Safari on the iphone. I reinstalled the app on the iphone and now connects just fine. Try that to see if it works.

I have yet to be able to see previous days' worth of graphing data and manually control my outlets using the app.

Im sure, in due time, we'll see an update.

Aquanotes

Aquanotes

I was re-reading Apex information on the Neptune Systems website. I noted the reference to the Aquanotes iPhone app. I had been connecting with my Apex through the web browser, so I figured, what the heck, let's try the App.

I went to iTunes, installed Aquanotes, and after configuring with my Apex's web address, Aquanotes worked great! It even displayed graphs for me , which was complete surprise! However, it does not appear to offer control function in the "Outlets" line. It appears accept a command, but then defaults to the prior setting.

I must have slept through class when this application was discussed. It is much quicker than the web browser connection, but does not allow module control(yet). Great for monitoring the tank.

The iPhone app is flaky. See on my 3GS it controls the Outlets but resets my Apex when I goto graphs. For free cant complain but I wish the author would come out with a new version. I would even be willing to pay upto $10 for a full working version:rollface:

On my 3G, it allows me to control outlets, and allowed me to view graphs once. Ever since, it just returns that original graph data. It will not reset the Apex either way.

Truly weird that people get such different results.

Hmmmmm, wonder what the deal is? Funny too that Neptune is marketing the Apex as "Interfaces with AquaNotes iPhone application" when it isn't able to actually control the unit from the app. I got the above quote directly off Neptunes website under the Apex controller page. Is this something that's "in the works" still or what?
