Okay,
So I have gotten some suggestions. I need a very Quiet pump on my closed loop. Bought the QO 5000 and it sounds like an airplane!!!! This is a 40 gallon breeder with a 29 gallon sump/fuge. Will house LPS, SPS, and Clams. Main Display Fish is a Mandarin. Now, I was told a Pan World Pump is one of the quietest pumps for this. The most quiet was the Poseidon, but it would add about 8 degrees to my tank. So people, I need your help. Anyone have a Pan World Pump? How Quiet Are they? I was thinking of the one that pumps 1100 GPH. I have a Quiet One 3000 for my return which I say is probably pumping 650 GPH. I was also told Ehiem but it only pumps 900 GPH and I was told it most likely wouldn't be enough flow for SPS and LPS. Can you help?

I've got that panworld pump for my closed loop. I think my in sump mag 7 is louder. Both a re in my remote fish room, so I don;t pay much attention. In the end my skimmer seems to make the most noise...

I sold a panworld pump because it was way too loud. The sound of the fan will drive you nuts.

As long as you buy a pump that is model 40px and below you'll be fine. They'll very quit. Models above 40px will be a bit louder because of the fan behind.

Depends which model. The fan on the 50PX is kinda loud - but can be removed. The 40PX and 40PX-X do not have a fan and are pretty much silent.

About how much flow are you shooting for? A Sequence Dart is probably too much for a 40g ;)

The panworld pumps will add heat also!

All pumps will, but the PanWorld is using an external air-cooled motor, so it is adding very little heat vs. a water cooled or submersible pump. Its probably adding less heat than any submersible pump larger than a MaxiJet 1200.

I recently purchased a 50x-px and that is the last of my noise problems. You will enjoy it.....i do.
