Is a Tunze Stream Kit necessary for my tank?

Hi All,
Hopefully you can answer this question and shed some light on the product. I have a 120g with a mag12 return flow, but there are still dead spots so I would like to buy a tunze stream 6000. I see there is a controllable 6000 for approx $240 and there is a tunze stream kit TS07 for approx $295. Is the kit necessary or would the 6000 with controller be enough?

Can anyone suggest a good online retailer for Tunze products?

Thank you very much in advance!!!!

David

Premium Aquatics. Go with someone trustworthy. I had a screwup on mine being ordered through my LFS, LFS fault not Tunze's. I ended up waiting for them for 2 months. Premium is the only place I will order drygoods from ever again. I you look at some of my posts on this board you can read about it.

Thanks for the advice Brewboy74 :)

I thought about going with PremiumAquatics and I haven't heard anything negative to change my mine hehe.

Does anyone have advice regarding the stream kit or just a tunze stream with a controller?

Thanks for the thread link Jersey! If I understand this correctly, you have to buy the controller with the stream(if you want it) because the stream is not upgradeable to use a controller in the future? Also it seems to me the controller allows you to adjust the stream flow while the kits allow you to operate the stream in different modes....am I correct?

The 6000 can be used with or without the controller. The driver that comes with the stream will allow you to adjust the output only. Spend the extra 50 if you can, you won't be disappointed.

I agree with jersey. You will be amazed with the flow adjustment using a controller.

We have the TS24 kit on our 244 gallon and it is just awesome. We have seen great improvement in our SPS since installing the stream pumps.

I really like the idea of the controller and it sounds like a steal of a deal so I will end up getting one. But I'm still not clear on the difference between the 6000 model that comes with a controller ($240 value) and the kit ($300). But I'm definitely sold on the controller.

If I'm not mistaken, the 6000 is just the stream pump which includes the transformer and driver unit.

The kit is the 6000 stream pump and the addition of the controller. I am sure when Roger checks the forum he will correct me if I am wrong.

reef_freak_hou,
The Tunze website has this price breakdown:
-6000 stream for approx $124
-6000 controllable stream for approx $240
-6000 stream TS07 kit for approx $300

I have limited knowledge with the product so I just don't know what is required to run a stream. It sounds like the basic $124 model comes with a transformer and driver. The $240 value comes with a controller while the $300 comes with?

Thanks for your input :)

Homey -

I thought I was going to be able to help you more. I looked at Tunze website and I couldn't find a 6000 model for $124.00. I saw the model 6080 for about that amount.

I do believe the model 6000 for $240.00 is the stream pump with transformer and driver. The kit for $300.00 adds the controller unit.

Hopefully Roger will see the post and clear it up for you. He is a whiz on his products! Great guy to deal with.

The one thing I am certain about, is that you are going to be bowled over with the proformance of these units.

The 6060 is the $125 non controllable model, The TS07 is a 6000 which is about $240 with a 7091 single controller which is about $50. If budget is an issue you can buy the pieces seperately and the cost is no different so you can start with the 6000 and add the 7091 to pulse it later. The 6060 cannot be controlled, it is a fairly basic pump and I would recommend getting the 6000 if you can, you won't be dissapointed.

Thanks for the response rvitko!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I thought the TS07 costs $295 and it comes with the controller?

If that's the case, what does $240 get me?

Thanks again,
-David

The pump and no controller, you can buy the controller seperately later if it fits into your budget better that way. The pump will work and you can adjust speed, you just can't pulse between two speeds.

I definitely like the TS07 kit. Whats the wait time if I purchase one of these guys? My LFS said I'm looking at a wait time of 2-3 weeks.

I best put in my order asap if I won't be getting it a month from now :)
