Is a wavebox doable?

I have a 120g with one single corner over flow box. The outlet for the return in the overflow box comes out the side of the over flow pointing towards the left as opposed to the front of the overflow box pointing towards the front panel. 48x24x24. Originally I had thought that I could put it against the overflow box under the return but I read that a portion of the wavebox needs to be out of the water which would inhibit the return. Would the wavebox be able to be placed elsewhere effectively or do I need to seal the overflow and have the return come up behind the tank?

You would get a 3/4" to 1" wave in this set up, the wavebox could be placed on either side but it needs a fairly unobstructed shot at the far corner of the tank.

Cool sounds good. I was going to keep the rock about 4 inches away from the back pane of glass to let the fish swim around the back. I believe the wavebox is about 3-4 inches wide so that should be legit.
