Is Am-Quel/Prime Safe to Use with CP?

I know you cannot use these with cupramine, but is amquel or prime safe with chloroquine phosphate? Or, does CP cause a false positive reading on API ammonia test kit? My alert badge says all ok, but the test kit is reading 2.0 - yet fish show no signs of distress?

I have used Prime with CP multiple times with no issue. I believe CP does cause false positives on some ammonia test kits. I've never seen it affect the Seachem badge, however.

I don't know this for a fact, as I don't use API test kits. However, there have been several anecdotal remarks in the CP thread about this.

Thanks or the responses folks! FWIW, I added a small amount of CP to a cup of made up SW and tested it with the API ammonia kit - came back yellow, no ammonia. Yet, when I test my QT (in which the alert badge is showing safe), it is coming back as very high ammonia, though fish looks and behaves normally. Ran out of prime so will need to pop out today and get some, but seems strange. I followed the same seeded media approach this time as always in the past .....

It's false positive, use a red sea ammonia test kit to confirm.

I would believe the alert badge. Various de-ammonia compounds convert the ammonia to a substance that will create false positives on ammonia test kits. If I were more knowledgeable about chemistry, I would explain in a more coherent manner.
