Is Diamond goby good or bad idea?

I love Diamond Goby. It's interesting and usefull for sand filtering.

But i'm not sure if i want to get one so here are my questions:

I have a 110 gallon tank with shallow 2-3 mm sand (sand is not round, so there are edges on it). I believe i don't have enough sand and it's the wrong one?

Second, what happens with water clarity and scattered sand on rocks and corals? Is this something normal with this goby or not?

2-3mm sand should be just fine for a goby..
and yes on occasion they can stir up some sand but for the most part its not going to cause clarity problems and you may need to blow sand off some corals if you place them on the sand and its in an area the goby frequents.. They typically find a "den" and stay close to it mostly..

They really aren't as disastrous as some people make them out to be from my experience..

if 25.4 mm equals 1 inch then 1 tenth of an inch is not enough sand for a diamond goby. Mine have always enjoyed tunneling under things

They do kick up sand. Any other burrowing goby will do some sandsifting without throwing so much about.

You'll need a deeper sand bed. They like to burrow at night and dig all day.

At any rate, I've tried them twice both times they died after 2-3 months (starved). They were too slow to compete for prepared foods and my sand was too clean. If I tried again it would surely die.

I have had a pair in my 54 gallon for over a year. They are constantly cleaning my sand and it is always super clean. They eat anything I put in the tank. They do have the occasional neurotic moments where they keep digging and digging creating a big mound of sand, but then they tend to move it back. No complaints with my guys. I do recommend a lid as they will dart to the surface.

My cover 8' x3' surface. He dig and piled up sand will cover near by corals ( if on the sand) sand storm occasionally. But he keep the sand white and clean and that was my purple of adding one

Before I added mine in, the sand bed was 2.5 inches across the entire tank. Now some spots are half an inch deep and other are around 5 inches. Overall they love to move sand around... a lot

I love mine guy. He is the hardest working fish in the tank. If there is super fine sediment in the sand it will could the water temporarily, but the skimmer took it all out. Now if I move sand around, there is no fine stuff to cloud the water.

Sorry, sand grains are 2-3mm large and have rough edges. It's ATI FIJI sand.
Hight of the sand is around 0,5 to 1 cm (0,4 inches).

I'm thinking about finding better sand (with round edges) and add it on top of FIJI sand. Is that a bad idea?

I don't see it as a problem, when I had mine I also kept two at a time. They seemed to enjoy having a partner. Get them on the smaller side
