Is it safe to replace your sandbed in an octopus tank?

ive had an octopus for 5 months now and before that I had this tank set up for about ayear , its a 240 gallon tank and I originally used live carib sand mixed with regular playsand and I hate the dust stroms it causes , I was wanting to replace the sand with this Bio-Active Live Aragonite as found here http://www.saltwaterfish.com/m-dry-goods/Nature's-Ocean-Live-Sand-20-lb.html ,

as this is waht I used when i first set up my 30 gallon 4 years ago , I didnt have any problems with it , not detritus, or anything.

i liked this sand c ause it seemed super white with tiny pink peebles in it , Not a lot but some,, is there any other kind of sand thats more attractive but around the same grain size?

ive boght some carib sea sand once and i thought the grain sizes were too big .

I would treat it the same way as replacing any sand in an established tank - remove a small amount at a time and replace it. A clean shopvac is a wonderful thing.

a waterproof shop vac? lol never heard of using a shop vac for spills, but i haven ever really used one that much.

so what do you think of the sand I mentioned.

I was thinking about removing a 2foot by 2 foot area of my current sand and then adding the new , then waiting a week and doing another section

Most shop vacs are wet/dry vacs ;) I would just go ahead and do the change all at once.

yeah , i was determining how i woudl do the octopus , whether I would get him out in a container utnil i get done , or just do it with him in the tank ,
