I have a red bubble tip anemone, have had him for many years. (really every six months its multiplied by 5 so not sure if its the same) Anyway recently we had a heat wave and the temp went up to 90 degrees. We bought an AC and brought the temp back down to 80. However ever since the color of the Anemone has changed to bright orange and Really White inside the body ( really White like skeleton.) The clown fish are still swimming inside and its still attached to a rock, but I never have seen it this color.

Is it dying?????

wow 90 degrees is hot. He probably became stressed during that time and expelled some zooxanthellae. If you keep the parameters in check he might come back color wise. Is he eating? attached to a rock? got a pic? If you do not feed him I recommend giving him small peices (the size of its mouth) of scallop, shrimp, or squid to help give it nourishment.

Yes, I just fed him and he is eating, and he is attached to a rock

If it is eating, then that is a good sign. It sounds like it lost some of the zoos like the above poster mentioned. The good news is that even if that is the case, you should have no problem keeping it alive as long as it is eating. The key is to realize that if there are less zooxanthellae inside, then it is producing less of its own food. That means you need to supplement that food. In other words, feed it more often than normal until things look better.

For instance, I normally feed silverside to mine once a week. So I would give it smaller pieces every other day (or every day if it looks transparent). Then as it gains the color back, I would move to every few days, etc.

The question I have is whether the tentacles are opaque or clear/see through? Either way it is the same treatment.

Also, do some extra water changes to make them happy. Did it split recently?

Just as a side note, when I got my RBTA it was pink but transparent. A little TLC as described above, and it became nice and healthy. It decided to split last month while I was on vacation, and the new clone looked a lot more white. I have been feeding it brine shrimp (it is pretty small), and just moved to tiny silverside pieces. It is getting darker every day.

Good luck and let us know how things progress. Pictures would be great.

as long as it is eating and attached to a rock it sounds like he will be fine. It may take a while though for it to color up but just keep the parameters stable and it will be good.
