Is my carpet in trouble?

I have had a monster blue carpet in my tank for about 3 years -- about 14 inches across when fully open.

It looks great and hosts a pair of clark clowns that lay eggs every couple of weeks.

I feed prawn and squid periodically and it is under a 250k MH. It hasn't moved since I put it in the tank.

Tonight, I tried to feed it and it was very slow to react (close up to consume the meal). It also made no effort to hold on to the food and the clowns eventually took it away.

Should I be concerned? If so, what can I do?

I dont know much about this species but will ask a few questions to bump your thread.
Has it lost any of its color?
Has anything changed in your tank, new stock or water flow?
I know there are times when they just arent hungry. Could that be the reason for it not eating?
Loose any fish lately that it could have eaten so doesnt need a meal right now?

Continues to look great -- expands to over 15 inches during the day and contracts at night, but is not sticky and has no interest in food.

Another fact, it receives about an hour a direct sun every morning.

I would appreciate any help.

rich,

rich,

I have had similar experiences with my S. Haddni, where they would refuse food for a few days and then resume feeding slowly without any problem. My may be related to the tank temperature elevation.

Are there any other animals that may be affecting it? Shrimp, butterfly, and large angel fish? Have you thought about doing some water changes?

Scott and Phil got more experiences in this specie and may be they could help.
Good luck to you

My haddoni exhibit similar behavior. I typically feed them every day, but at least once a week they refuse to eat. It's as if they're not hungry. . . The next day, they engulf the food immediately.

I wouldn't be too concerned unless it doesn't eat for days at a time. JMHO. . .
