is my clam dead?

After my recent move my tank went through a pretty large cycle.My clam has remained opened about 1.5" but has not fluctuated either in closing or opening further in 3 days.You can still see the mantle and it has retained it's colors.Can it retain it's colors and be dead??

POssibly, but you have a very unhappy clam. Keep a close eye on it.

yeah, I know..it's "brother" didn't make it..since my tank is so small(20) I really don't want to keep it in there if it is dead.

Don't wanna throw it out if it isn't..

IT is not dead yet (at least when you took the pic), but it is need some serious TLC. Good luck with it!

Thanks, but it SMELLED dead and didn't so much as twitch for days...

I would leave it alone and see. Mantle extension doesn't look good but it isn't bleached. I can't tell if it is gaping or not (incurrent siphon open very wide).

Keep your system stable and let nature take its course.

well, what I meant to say is that it's no longer around..I really thought it was dead..it didn't even move when pulled out of the water and it smelled about as bad as a dead anemone.

did you have an established tank, what were your water parms?

The tank did have a bit of a spike because of the move and I'm sure that was the reason for the clam(s) being ill.Fortunately,everything else did fine.I don't remember the levels..thanks,though.
