is my clam dead?

Noticed this morning while the lights are off that my 2" crocea (argueably the coolest clam I've ever seen) was opened up but the mantle is retracted.
It looked great last night. Up until a few days ago it was solidly attached to a rock. I noticed the other morning that it had somehow detached and was now upside down wedged into the crevice it had previously been attached to.
It took a lot of gentle wiggling, but I got it out. It opened up, not fully) later that day. Next day it was fine. Now a couple days later it's retracted and the cleaner shrimp is picking at it.
I fed it DT's about once a week.
So, is it already gone or is there anything I can do? This is my father's day present from my wife, so not only is it my favorite clam but it has some meaning.

If the cleaner shrimp is starting to pick at it, it's probably dying. Of what tho, it's difficult to say.

Since it's not attached, can you look on the underside of the shell and check for drilled holes? That would indicate pyramid snails, which are predatory.

Pics, and lighting specs would be helpful.

Just got back home, my clownface wrasse is having a $40 breakfast.
No pics unfortunately. Lighting is 175w 10,000K MH & 2 NO actinics. Clam was in the middle of the tank about 4" from the surface directly under the MH.

Spoke to the LFS I bought it from (very good one). He suggested starvation. I recently drilled the tank for a sump, return is a mag12 with a EuroReef skimmer. Perhaps the high flow and heavy skimming removed too much of the live phyto?

That should only be a concern if it was a very small clam, < 3''.
Oh, yours was...
Thats the first 2" crocea I've ever heard of?

Cheers,

Still learning stuff, just too bad it's been at the expense of a beautiful animal. Thanks for the help everyone!
