Is my DOC 9006 working right? (video)

I installed my skimmer about 28 hours ago. I obviously know there is a break in period. I have only used a couple different types of bubble magus skimmers and am not familiar with a type like this. Does this look right. I feel like the water level should be higher allowing it to foam. Right now it is just some bubbles, but nothing really for foam. When I am looking at the skimmer I cant even see any water unless Im directly above it. Thanks!

It looks like it may not be installed correctly? If you are not using the 9005.400 sump kit, then the water must be to the line marked on the front of the skimmer (wavy line), from what I could see in the video it looked like the water was well below this line and I did not see the sump kit.

rvitko: it was up to the line before, thats just evap. From what I read in the instructions though there is quite a bit of leeway into what the water level can be. If that is the case though I will keep my water level higher.

OK, that sounds fine, it can be up to 1" below the line I just couldn't see clearly where the water line was at. It is important though that the water line not fluctuate rapidly, 1" over a few days is one thing, over a half day or day is too much.

I am in the process of getting a pump on a timer set up to come on twice a day and top the tank off. Since I have your attention maybe you can clarify something for me. It says I can run this skimmer in my sump with that sump kit anywhere between 3.5"-11" or whatever the instructions say. Why cant I run the skimmer anywhere between this right now? It looks like all that kit does is move where the water leaves the skimmer and makes it so there are no micro bubbles. I havnt seen any issue with bubbles. Just curious as to how this affects the effective water level of the skimmer.

Right now water exits the bottom of the skimmer, whatever the external water level is is the internal water level of the skimmer. The sump kit is 3 parts that serve to dam up the water in the skimmer, the water has to rise to the marked line inside the skimmer in order to exit.

Ah okay. Right now my sump water level is way higher than usual because of the skimmer. Looks like I will be ordering the new part just so I can put it back to normal. I dont think I can turn off my return at this point without overflowing. Thanks for the help Roger! If I can't find the right sump kit I may be asking for a link lol Ill go check now.
