I've just got myself quite a large manderin! He seems to be eating well.. And swims around the tank (although does go and hide at the back quite a lot) I'll attach some pictures and I would just like advice from experts at how healthy he looks. I know that people can tell if it's 'skinny' or if it's stomach goes in..? But I'm still noob soo would like some guidance (maybe pics of typically unhealthy fish with concave tummys etcc)

Hard to tell in some of the pictures, but he clearly looks thin in the 3rd and 4th.

You should be able to see a nice little buddah belly when he's well fed.

Have you tried any of my supplemental feeding suggestions?

Should not have that ridge along the side. Not terrible but definitely needs more food.

Agree, not terrible, but could fatten up a bit.
FWIW my female came from an order, I would never have picked such a skinny mandarin, way worse than yours, but she did recover and very fat now, though I have tons of pods for her and her mate.

Just thought I'd touch base and let everyone know that so far so good!! My Mandy is constantly going round eating! I'm adding live copepods daily (great price from my LFS) still trying to set up a copepod "farm" but to no avail at the minute.. But will get there!

And the best news is that my manderin (Edmund) is eating frozen and flakes (that I feed my other fish)

I know that there's still a long way to go and that it's still early days (only had him 6 days) but just wanted to update everyone!!

He definitely needs a bit more food, but he's not in bad shape. A well-fed mandarin has an obvious fat tummy on him, they actually look kind of overly fat.
