Is my open brain in the process of reproducing?

Lately I've noticed two protruding thin ridges coming from the middle of the coral where it's folded. The brain is healthy and doesn't have tissue receding from the skeleton.

No. It's outer skeletal structure looks like that. It may be slightly irritated bu something. Just watch it closely. if you start to see skeleton poke through the flesh you may need to dip it. At this point though I would not worry to much about it.

Unfortunately you're right.
There are a couple other parts of the skeleton that now poke through the flesh, and the brain doesn't swell up as large as it used to.

Can you give me precise instructions on "dipping" it as I've never done it?

it is going to very on what kind of dip you use. I use kent's iodine dip and it seems to work well. Just make sure to dip it and watch it closely. Spot feeding it as well will help with it's recovery as long as it is not very stressed.
