I bought this stuff the other day thinking it would save me money and time.
It is one of those two part putties like "aqua stick"
Now I am having second thoughts . Has anyone used it for their tanks?

Here's an older thread that claims it is.

I have used all kinds of plumbers epoxies with no problem. If they say potable water safe, they are generally ok. It costs quite a bit to maintain the NSF approval, so there are identical products that may be safe, but are not listed potable safe. It is always good to get a second opinion though.

Thanks for the quick response noahm. I just bout a new leather a few hours ago and every time the polyps start coming out the thing topples over . I suspect my tomato clown , he has a guilty look on his face. Plus I witnessed him pushing over my new pagoda cup a few months back!
I will check out that link now! Thanks again!

oatley's is safe. Ive used it for years. just make sure you dont bond it directly to the coral, only a rock that the coral is attached to.

I have used it to mount duncans and pagoda cups on to rocks . These were fresh cut and unattached to rock so I had to push it into the putty. After a while the coral's skin encrusted over the putty. I was really suprised.

yeah Id figure that would be okay, not so much with Acro's or some other SPS though because the putty heats up as it cures so if it's on some live tissue the coral might get upset and give it up.

just cause it says safe for potable water dosent mean it is safe for our tanks...copper pipes are safe to drink from too...

i would think with the talk that is seams to be safe...just make sure there isnt any metal fillers in it..as you never know what kind of metal is actually in it...

The Search feature works well :) This is the exact thread I was hoping for.

I also just got Oatey's Fix-it Stick. I used one stick to "glue" 125 lbs of dry rocks. I was concerned I may have gotten the wrong kind of epoxy but it seams Kingfisher62 is using it with success. How long have you had it in your tank and have you noticed any negative effects?

@XSIVE. Dude, thanks for pointing out the heat issue. I didn't even think of that. My gel superglue skills aren't so great, so I've used epoxy to put some SPS in place and have had bad luck on survival. That's probably why!
