Is Polyoxymethylene (POM) reef safe?

I'm rebuilding my 65g after a long hiatus away from reefing. I'm finding that some of my equipment has failed in storage... One such item is my return pump.

I'm replacing my Danner Mag5 with a Sicce 3.0, but the connections are different. I'm trying to make use of my current plumbing setup, and a 3/4" male threaded to 1/2" barb fitting would fit the bill perfectly.

I don't know what's happened to my Lowe's and Home Depots, but I can't find any sch 40 or 80 PVC barb items. at all.

The closest I could find is THIS irrigation fitting, reportedly made of Polyoxymethylene (POM).

Is that a reef safe material?

Yes POM/Acetal is totally safe for this hobby..

It is nearly impossible to find any commercial plastic part that is not...

I appreciate it! Indeed, you'd think that with all the pollutants and etc in the real ocean that I shouldn't be worried about one fitting...but knowing my luck id buy one that magically disintegrates from saltwater and leaches arsenic lol

There are thousands and thousands (millions I'm sure) of pounds of plastic in the ocean .. The danger from nearly all of that is not chemically related at all but rather physical things like ingestion/entanglement,etc...

Most plastics are basically inert and don't pose any chemical harm to anything really..
