Is sunlight supply really best ballast for radiums

That ballast likely is an M80 ballast. If you open the enclosure and look at the ANSI code on the transformer, it likely will say ANSI M80.

It's not that a SLS brand ballast is best for Radium 250 but an M80 ballast in general is best for the PAR value of 250W Radium regardless of the brand.

The blue wave 3 (single HQI) and 7 (dual HQI) are always HQI. Available in 150w or 250w (m80). Non HQI were sold under a different monicker

250W radium was made to spec for M80. A M80 is a M80.

I agree that this ballast is nearly 100% M80 unless it was tampered with. Those were high quality products, IMO.

Aqua Medic also sold the M80 ballast and I believe that they called it the Cube and O-yes I got one of the last ones and the M81 as well.

...and they were like $80 and sold a ton of them... but they quit making them. Morons.

Hamiltons are the good ones now. Blue Wave and PFO is gone.

Regarding the aquamedics, they were low quality, good riddance. I have 5 of them and every single one has a different watt draw. I'm not talking a few percent. We're talking 270 to 350. Of those 5 I only use 2. In fact the one that was pulling 350 got put in the trash a few hours ago.
