Is the Mesh Wheel mod worth it?

Just curious if the mesh wheel(pf4) mod is worth it. I have an unmodified ASM G2 skimmer with the Sedra 3500 needle wheel pump. In the next 6 months to a year however, I'm going to be upgrading to a new skimmer, so I'm wondering if the mesh mod is really a huge improvement and if it's worth the money (in mesh) for me to do the mod in the meantime?

Hopefully those that have done it can rate its effectiveness for me?
