Is the Yellow wrasse reef safe? Need to know quick.

I thought for sure they were so I so one today and bought it. It is still drip acclimating. Before I throw him in to my heavily stocked mixed reef, I would like to know if anyone has experience with them? Thanks,

Yup, had one in my 90. He acclimated fine and was eating frozen food, and after about a month he just up and died. Started twitching at about 9pm one night, and by 10pm he was a gonner. None of the other fish in my system had any problems. Apparently it's not uncommon for them to just croak, though. He may hide for the first few days. See if you can watch where he goes into the sand and when you feed you can take care to put some food by him.

they are reef safe to an extent. monitor when you have shrimp. basicly monitor them with any inverts period. but beyond that yes. some are perfect and then there are others who are nightmares, it all depends on the fish.

Mine had a taste for blue legs and scarlets. Did not mess with any corals

I've had mine for a few years. Hasn't touched any shrimp but they're pretty big, certainly no interest in coral. Great fish, peaceful, but careful about jumping.

My yellow 'super male' wrasse was reef safe, but did pick at inverts occassionally. The real problems began when I added a female bipartitus wrasse to the mix. The yellow took an immediate dislike to her & became a holy terror chasing & nipping whenever he saw her. Needless to say, he went back to my LFS for store credit.

Coral safe, yes. Invert safe, not so much.

Ive had mine for 2 years with pep shrimps, coral banded shrimps, cleaner shrimps with no problem.

semi-safe as if they find out that inverts can be food they will eat if competition for food is stiff and they don't get enough .i have had a few and one learned all sorts of bad things from a dragon wrasse, within a few hours he was flipping everything in sight .
