Is there a reason large fancy toadstools with wither up, get small, and hang?

I have had this toadstool for 15+ years. He has not done this for awhile, but he has gotten very small from what he usually is and is limp - I have seen him do this very rarely in the past and I am just wondering if anyone know why they do this, is this normal that they do, and/or is it a threat to their overall health?

Personally I think they just do that and its part of their "growth" routine..
All my leathers close up from time to time.. but always come back out with noticeable new growth or start tearing/reproducing..

Have you checked water params? Run any carbon?
