Is there anyone from New York who can help me?

Hi everybody!

I'm coming to New York for my holiday this July and I was wondering if you could help me a little bit?

I should be interested in going to aquarium shops that carry reef related products and particularly marine fishes. Maybe you could give some shop names and/or addresses for me to visit in NY or in the Connecticut where I'm guest of some friends of mine?

Some years ago I visited NY aquarium but unfortunately I wasn't very impressed by their reef tanks!!!

For NY the best reef shop I have seen is called Manhattan Reefs. Its on 37th street between 10th and 11th Ave. I live in Florida and I must say the stores I've seen in NY don't come close to the ones in Fla.

There is a public 20,000 gallon reef tank in Long Island that everyone says its a must see. I hear they have tabling SPS 5' in diameter.

There is a very nice LFS called Greenwich Aquaria in Greenwich, CT. Pricey but gorgeous.

There's several stores in NYC which are nice. The one referenced above on 37th street is called Manhattan Aquarium, (Manhattan Reefs is another forum, not a shop). There's also a few others, like New World Aquarium (38th between 2nd and 3rd) and a new place on the west side called Blue Star Aquaria (65th and Broadway), but I haven't been there yet. There's a handful of others as well.

I live near Manhattan and the best one in the city is defintely Manhattan Aquariums. If you venture into NJ check out Absolutely Fish, by far the largest selection of corals and fish I have ever seen in any store. A little pricey though.

greenwich aquaria and house of fins are in CT. there both amazing stores.

The Aquarium in Long Island is called Atlantis Aqauarium. It's in Riverhead.

If you have some spare time I'd definitely recommend checking it out.
