All snakes are bad however next time, we'll take a kimber stainless II .45 to get them. Snakes freak me out and we need to get rid of all of them. Did I say snakes freak me out

Any river you should find some this summer Leighton. That is, if you don't go back for the summers. Meramac I see them every year, along with the huzah (sp). Most ponds with high grass should have some too. Take a drive out to Troy and go down one of the country roads. Almost every property there has a pond for their cows.

Or, better yet, go out in Trottman's back yard and grab another one before he puts a bullet in it.

they are all over around me. no water, just bluffs. I shot this one, because it scared me and wouldnt move even after i prodded it with a stick. I acctually touched it when i went to pick up the log, that scared the **** out of me too. I think it liked being nesseled up in those long wood shavings that i made when i was too lazy to spilt wood with the splitting maul. i never knew a saw could make shavings like that till i cut the logs going with the grain not against it.
This is by far the biggest one i have seen in my area. most are only a foot long and skinny. this one is a good 2 feet mabe 2 and 1/2 feet long and fat.

He didn't move, and he was under the log because it is still too cold for them. They are just now getting out of hibernation. More than likely you could have picked it up with your lips and it probably wouldn't have so much as blinked. It doesn't mean you should though of course

Unfortunately banded water snakes are frequently assumed to be copperheads...they are not. I'm hoping that you are not thinking that these are the copperheads Paul

Definitely a copperhead. I have almost sat on them many times while fishing the Mississippi River:lol:
I would not have killed it though, just moved it along like Capo said, they do serve a purpose.
As for Paul's comments, I think he is confusing the water snake with the copperhead too
