Is this a disease?

About 1 week after I purchased this Miniatus grouper it changed from a bright red colouring to this smoke black pattern. Why is this? And should I be concerned? He has been looking like this for about 3 weeks now.

PS The piece of skin on his eye has gone completely.

Looks like fungus or flukes, you may want to post your picts in the Disease area. The white lesions on the the skin do not look good to me. best of luck, I like those groupers.

Although it may sound harsh, you may want to treat him with Paraguard by Seachem, dips may do wonders.

Hi

We used to keep a panther grouper and I remeber reading an article on them saying they go dark and smokey when ill/stressed, so I would expect his colour to return once the fungus has gone.

Good luck with him! there reall gorgeous fish!
