is this a known issue? LAN card loses connection regularly, requires power cycle

just as the subject says, i have to power cycle my profilux controller about 1-2 times a week in order to restore LAN connectivity.

since i have an external service regularly querying the controller for information, this is very frustrating. at the price of this unit, i expect reliability out of the components.

Nope its not a ProfiLux LAN issue, it seems your network is dropping the connection for some reason.

We can control everything ProfiLux related but unfortunately have no control over routers etc that the equipment is attached to.

Maybe go to the router manufacturers web site and see if a new driver is available, or plug the ethernet cable into a different port.

Hope that helps :)

the network continues to work when the controller does not. it is only the profilux which drops connection.

this leans towards it being a controller issue.

I have no reported issues on file of this at all, sorry, so it is definately not a known or reported issue, it is most likely network setting related. My own has been sitting on my network for over a year and never dropped.

Try what I said above and drop me an email at sales@aqua-digital.com for more support after ;)

Matthias may be able to help with going through your settings to make sure you have the all set up right.

Drop me an email and we can see if we can help. But please try what i said in the first reply. ;)

we have the LAN-connection running here over weeks permanently without problems

but I know a similar case where the router (or hub/switch) was causing the problem, for some reason the connection was disturbed after a while

possible workaround: use static IPs rather than auto-IPs

Steve - any inputs on this???

i am currently using a static IP already for the controller. for context the router is a linksys WRT54G.

i've tried simply unplugging the cat5 cable to reset it, but the only thing i've tried that works is to power cycle the controller. the curious part here is that all other devices going through the router are undisturbed.

other possible causes are the cable runnign close to high voltage or current devises and an intermittant cable
