is this a mantis dr. roy

i saw this little guy digging in my sand bed. what is it? i made a small movie clip.

Not Dr. Roy, but looks like a pistol shrimp to me. The kind that goes with a goby.

It looks like a ghost shrimp - family Callianassidae. They are not closely related to stomatopods. In some places they are called Yabbies. They are digging specialists.

thanks guys. where it came from? irealy dont know. i had these rocks for almost 4 years, the 180 i set up a year. i have never seen this guy.

i was about to say Callianassia ghost shrimp as well, but then saw the doc beat me to it

i have one in my tank... i only see the molts he leaves behind. They are very common, and used as bait by many fishermen. Dig burrows several feet long.. generally peacefull.
