Is this a rock flower?

A while back i bought a rock that had different polyps all over in. Over time the polyps have thinned out but when i got the rock i had one of these on it. Now there are 7 total and i think they have to be some type of anemone. They certainly act like it atleast.

No, it doesn't look like a flower anemone (Epicystis crucifer).
Agree. Doesn't look like any I've seen. Plus, I highly doubt any anemone will split that fast. (Any anemone that you want that is)Some type of poly.

When i put a tiny piece of shrimp on them, they swell up around it and close. They also definatly have a center mouth the swells when food is present. Here is another pic of the largest one.

Probably the size of a quarter on the biggest one and dime on the smaller ones. They are actually pretty in my opinion i just would like to know what they are lol

Almost look like a duncan coral. Do they move? Have a foot? Are there any more in the tank (away from that rock)?

Wow. The guesses are all over the board on this one. LOL

It does kinda look like crucifer to me, but it's obviously not. Crucifer is not known to split, so the odds of having that many identical crucifers, that close together on the same rock, are very slim. Crucifer gets much larger than those as well. I think you're going to have a hard time getting a positive ID on those. They aren't majano or dunkens though. Maybe try posting a thread in the soft coral forum.

Top does kind of looks like one but there would be a definit calcium based stalk they would all grow from.

I will agree it looks like some of those, but i havent ever seen a zoa with mouths like this that swell up sometimes just like my H. Magnifica mouth. One of these days when i feed them i will try to snap a pic. It's plausable that they are zoas i just havent ever seen any eat and close up like these.

I searched rock anemone on google images and there are a couple that look alot like them. Like said earlier though i just cant imagine anemones multiplying that fast.

I have had a rock anemone for over 2 years, never split. Instead it buds off a tiny baby anemone. In 2 years I've gotten 1 baby and they are very different looking than this. Plus the adult anemone is a good 4-5 inches in diameter and has waaaaay more tenticles than those in your pics.

im gonna throw another one out there...i think it may be a tulip anemone...still a pest based on what i have read. i have seen my LFS sell a rock of these things for over $100 to entry level hobbyists.

Do you have a pic of this bud? I've been keeping crucifer for a very long time and I've never seen this behavior.

Ok.... I say kill em... Scary looking to me. I haven't had rock nem nearly that long, but bought it from a local reefer, and it's behavior has been similar to what Radiohead said...

To the OP, even larger zoa and paly polyps, aptaisia and majano will take in a shrimp like your avg nem.... My rock nem is huge, and it has some spots on the underside, similar (but arranged differently) to a LTA if you can get a peek.... Those are dividing to fast to be good :(

Rock nem under actinics only:
