I bought what this guy at a salt water fish store told me was a tiger pistol shrimp. I payed out $35 for it and $15 for a yellow goby.

When I got home I looked up the tiger pistol shrimp and the coloration is comepletely different. And mine doesnt have the bulbous claws like pistols do. He told me they fall off when they move and next time they mult they should grow back... I know the pic is bad.

Did he pull a fast one on me ?

Definitely not a tiger pistol. I'd take it back to the store where you purchased it, along with a pic of a tiger pistol and ask for a refund.

agreed with the above... they ripped you off and sold you a peppermint shrimp. they also way over charged you for even getting a peppermint shrimp. i would return it and never go back to them again.

I had this really large 'peppermint' shrimp that was much larger than all other peppermints that I had ever had (about the size of a cleaner shrimp). It would eat aiptasia, as well as stomatella snails.

I later saw another for sale in the LFS that was labeled as a 'cave cleaner' shrimp(?). So I'm not sure if it was a peppermint, or something else . . .
